The Arkansas Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program
The Arkansas Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) has expanded and now offers assistance to help eligible Arkansas households with the financial burden of their monthly water and wastewater bills.
NEW!
The new Regular Benefits portion of LIHWAP provides a one-time benefit to eligible households to pay current water and wastewater charges.
Based on household size, income, and characteristics, the Regular Benefit may create a credit on the household’s water bill. The credit will be applied to eligible water charges only until completely used up. Credits that cannot be applied to water charges on the approved household account will be returned to LIHWAP.
Arkansas residents who need help paying their current and/or past-due drinking water and wastewater bills may qualify for assistance through LIHWAP.
NEW!
Recipients who applied for LIHWAP before October 1, 2022, may be eligible for a second crisis benefit to pay their past-due water bill. The benefit will pay the amount due, up to $2000, for water-related charges only.
The program assists eligible households that:
- need help paying their current drinking water and wastewater bills,
- are disconnected from water services,
- have a dated notice of disconnection, or
- have past-due bills.
Qualifying Arkansas residents are eligible for assistance to help pay their current or overdue water or wastewater bills.
